Violet Grohl put her own spin on a classic from The Cure during a recent Like A Version session, choosing the band’s 1992 song High for a stripped-down performance. During the appearance, she explained that the track has been a longtime favorite and highlighted the dreamy sound and imagery that have kept it in her rotation.
The performance centered on acoustic guitar and vocals, giving High a quieter, more intimate feel than the original recording. Grohl also shared that her interest in The Cure began when she first heard Friday I’m in Love around age 12 or 13, which encouraged her to explore more of the group’s catalog.
High originally appeared on The Cure’s 1992 album Wish, one of the band’s most commercially successful releases. Grohl’s choice connects her current music with an alternative rock song that has remained familiar to multiple generations of listeners.
During the same session, she also performed 595, a song from her debut album Be Sweet To Me.
