Alanis Morissette is getting ready to release her first holiday album, a project that grew from a personal tradition of recording a Christmas song each year. During a recent interview, the singer said the collection will mix familiar seasonal favorites with new original songs, including To an Empathic Christmas Time and Christmas on the Dance Floor.
In the same conversation, Morissette revealed that Martin Short will appear on the album for a rendition of a song associated with Judy Garland. She also shared some of the holiday music she enjoys most, naming What Child Is This? and Little Drummer Boy among her favorites.
Christmas has an added personal meaning for Morissette because her son Ever was born on Christmas Day. That connection has become part of the way she experiences the season with her family.
The holiday project arrives as Morissette continues an active period in her career, which also includes her upcoming Butterfly With a Machete residency in Los Angeles.
