Plans for a major summer concert in South Carolina have been called off. Organizers behind the Rock the Country festival confirmed that the event scheduled for late July in Anderson will not move forward.

The announcement came after several artists exited the lineup in recent weeks. The two day festival had been set to take place at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center and was promoted as part of a multi city tour tied to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebrations.

Among the acts that withdrew were Shinedown and Ludacris. Shinedown later shared that the decision was based on wanting their music to bring people together. Ludacris’ representatives described his inclusion on the bill as a scheduling mix up. Other performers also quietly stepped away, leaving the festival without much of its original lineup.

Rock the Country is headlined and co founded by Kid Rock. Organizers have not said whether other tour stops will be affected. Ticket holders for the Anderson date are expected to receive refunds through their original point of purchase.
